I almost sent this back, until I realized it wasn't the machine that was bad, but a cigarette lighter fuse burned out causing the OBDII not to come on. If you plug it in and the screen stays black, check your cigarette lighter fuse. When that pesky check engine light comes on, it's nice to have this in your toolbox instead of driving all over town to find an AutoZone or O'Reilly's to have them read the codes for you.
